A Portal Into Connection
By Hannah Rosales
The safer we feel, the greater our capacity for connection.
This video invites viewers into an embodied exploration of what it means to work polyvagally - to listen from the inside for cues of safety. Recognizing a felt sense of safety and connection can ensure a more flexible and resilient nervous system as well as point us toward practices that restore a nervous system that is detecting threat, often due to trauma.
The term Polyvagal refers to the Vagus nerve -- named for its “wandering” nature within the parasympathetic nervous system. Connecting body to brain, this nerve travels two (poly-) distinct pathways detecting the extent to which we feel safe. The safer we feel, the greater our capacity for connection.
